MONROE, La – A heated confrontation outside a Shoe Show store on Louisville Avenue escalated into a criminal incident, leading to the arrest of a Shreveport man on hate crime and other charges.

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, Monroe Police Department officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the store’s parking lot. According to an affidavit, 51-year-old Clint M. Ferguson allegedly parked his vehicle next to another vehicle occupied by a Black individual, exited, and began shouting a racial slur, including the phrase, “I hate n*****s.”
The victim reportedly left their vehicle as Ferguson continued shouting racial slurs. When the victim called the police, Ferguson attempted to leave in his vehicle, but the victim stood in front of it. Ferguson allegedly drove around the victim, running over their foot in the process.
The affidavit states that the victim retaliated by punching Ferguson through his open driver-side window as Ferguson fled the scene. Shortly after, Ferguson returned, where officers attempted to detain him. Ferguson refused to cooperate and did not provide a statement.

Authorities pulled him from his vehicle and placed him under arrest.
Ferguson was first transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries to his eye and nose, reportedly caused by the victim’s punch. After being medically cleared, he was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on charges of Hate Crimes, Aggravated Battery, and Resisting an Officer.
Ferguson’s bond has been set at $50,000.
A spokesperson for the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed the charges and ongoing investigation.
