SHREVEPORT, LA – Motorists traveling along Youree Drive may have noticed a rougher ride as road construction continues on a $3.8 million repair project overseen by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).

The project, aimed at improving a three-mile section of LA 1 in Shreveport, remains in progress, with full completion expected by late June 2025.
Currently, crews are conducting full-depth patching—a crucial phase that involves removing all layers of the roadway down to the base at designated locations and replacing them with new material. This process strengthens the road and helps prevent future failures beneath the driving surface.
DOTD reports that full-depth patching between Southfield Road and Kings Highway is nearing completion, with crews expected to shift focus to the section between Stoner Avenue and Kings Highway next week.

Once this phase is finished, the project will move into the milling stage, where old asphalt layers will be removed and replaced with new paving along the entire stretch.
Despite temporary rough conditions, DOTD assures motorists that the end result will be a significantly improved driving surface for the nearly 20,000 vehicles that use the corridor daily. However, progress remains dependent on weather conditions and other potential delays.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution while navigating the construction zone, maintain a safe following distance, and be aware of work crews and equipment. Residents should also be mindful when walking or biking near the site.
For updates on roadwork and travel conditions, motorists can visit the DOTD website or follow local traffic advisories.
