SHREVEPORT, La. — A 20-year-old suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old at Bilberry Park has been booked into Caddo Correctional Center (CCC) on multiple charges.

Jermaine Choate was taken into custody and transferred to CCC on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. He faces a charge of second-degree murder related to the July 6, 2024, shooting in the 3000 block of Lakeshore Drive.
Shreveport Police officers responded to the scene around 5 p.m. and discovered a juvenile victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Following an investigation by the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, Choate was identified as a suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Authorities previously considered him armed and dangerous.
Choate was initially taken into custody in Texas, where he was booked into Gregg County Jail on November 20, 2024, for unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest, criminal trespass, and a fugitive hold from Shreveport.

After being held in Texas, Choate was extradited to Caddo Parish, where he now awaits legal proceedings.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
