SHREVEPORT, La. – A multi-agency investigation led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle, firearm, and numerous items of stolen property after Shreveport Police arrested a suspect earlier this week.
On April 2, 2025, Shreveport Police Department patrol officers located a stolen 2006 silver Dodge Ram 3500 parked and occupied at 5704 Youree Drive.
Officers confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Caddo Parish. The driver, identified as Taylor Rust, was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (IPST) and multiple drug-related offenses.
During the arrest, officers observed what appeared to be stolen items inside the vehicle. SPD Property Crimes detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation.
Shortly afterward, detectives were contacted by the Haughton Police Department regarding an active burglary investigation in which Rust had been identified as a suspect.
According to Haughton PD, Rust allegedly used the stolen Dodge Ram to transport a significant quantity of stolen items, including lawn equipment, hardware tools, containers, and a firearm with approximately 600 rounds of ammunition.
On April 4, 2025, detectives recovered most of the stolen property from the vehicle, including the firearm and ammunition. Because the stolen property was in Rust’s possession within Shreveport city limits at the time of his arrest, he now faces two additional counts of IPST and one count of Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm. The firearm has since been removed from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.
Haughton Police advised that Rust is facing further charges in their jurisdiction and have applied for an arrest warrant.
This case underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in recovering stolen property and bringing suspects to justice.
