Shreveport, La — On March 2, 2025, at approximately 11:20 PM, officers responded to a call in the 1600 block of Creswell Avenue regarding a reported domestic battery incident.
The victim reported that her ex-girlfriend, April Smith, physically assaulted her by striking her in the face with a cell phone, causing visible injuries.
The victim further stated that Smith intentionally impeded her breathing by placing her hands and forearms around her throat, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Following an investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for April Smith on charges of Battery of a Dating Partner with Strangulation.
On March 27, 2025, Smith was taken into custody by detectives without incident.
