SHREVEPORT, LA – The Shreveport Water Department began shutting off water service Monday night at three local apartment complexes—Village Square, Southern Oaks, and NMI Village Square—due to approximately $200,000 in unpaid water bills by the property owners.

For the next 30 days, water will only be available to residents of these complexes for two-hour windows in the morning (6-8 a.m.) and evening (6-8 p.m.) to allow them time to secure alternative housing.
Citizens should be prepared that the concentrated water usage during these designated hours could lead to temporary low water pressure for other Shreveport residents.
With hundreds of residents potentially using water simultaneously for essential needs such as flushing toilets, showering, and storing water, the strain on the system may be noticeable.
Residents are advised to prepare for possible disruptions and monitor local updates regarding the situation.
