SHREVEPORT, LA – Eric Dewayne Green, the 19-year-old convicted of murdering a Booker T. Washington High School student in a chilling ambush, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of probation or suspension of sentence.

Green, who was just 16 at the time of the January 27, 2022 killing of 17-year-old Deanthony Walker, received the mandatory life sentence Monday, April 14, 2025, from District Judge John D. Mosley Jr. Because Green was a juvenile when the crime occurred, he will be eligible for parole at a later date.
Walker was gunned down in broad daylight while walking home from school in the 1300 block of Harvard Avenue near Harp Street. When officers arrived, they found Walker deceased in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators recovered 26 shell casings from a 9mm weapon and three from a .357-caliber firearm at the scene.
Surveillance video from a nearby home captured a black Kia Soul—stolen earlier that same day—pulling up alongside Walker. Green was seen exiting the back driver’s side and opening fire with a Glock 19, discharging 17 rounds. A second teen, positioned behind the front passenger, reportedly fired the .357-caliber gun as Walker attempted to flee. A third teen then exited the vehicle and allegedly executed Walker at point-blank range.
Two days later, the stolen Kia was involved in a police pursuit. Though the occupants fled on foot, they were apprehended shortly after. A fourth teen, also in the vehicle at the time of the murder, identified Green and the two co-defendants as the shooters.
Police also seized Green’s cellphone, which revealed he had parked across from Booker T. Washington High School shortly before Walker was dismissed. Surveillance footage confirmed the Kia’s presence outside the school, and GPS data showed Green was within a block of the murder site at the time of the shooting.
The murder weapon, found in a co-defendant’s home, was matched to 17 of the shell casings recovered at the scene. Green’s DNA was also discovered on several items inside the Kia.
Green is the first of three teens charged in connection to Walker’s murder to be sentenced.
He was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kodie K. Smith and Bill Edwards. Defense attorneys were Casey Simpson and Harry Johnson. The case was docketed under No. 387430.
