SHREVEPORT, La — On Monday, July 15, 2024 just before 10:30 p.m., Shreveport Police officers were called to a shooting in the 4900 block of Werner Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a female victim was suffering from a gunshot wound and had been driven to a local hospital by a private automobile.
Detectives with the Shreveport Police Domestic Violence Unit responded to the scene and began their investigation.

As a result, 24-year-old Elijah Smith was arrested by detectives for one count of domestic abuse battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury. Fortunately, the victim is expected to recover.
Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
