SHREVEPORT, La — The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) is currently investigating an officer-involved crash that resulted in the fatal injury of a pedestrian.
The incident occurred on June 20, 2024, at approximately 1:02 a.m.
A SPD patrol officer was driving a patrol unit eastbound in the 600 block of East 70th Street.
While crossing the intersection of Line Avenue, the officer struck a pedestrian who was present in the roadway. The Shreveport Fire Department responded promptly to the scene and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The Shreveport Police Crash Investigations unit was immediately dispatched to the scene and began a thorough investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the pedestrian was in the roadway and dressed in dark clothing at the time of the incident.
Additionally, the investigation noted that the area has poor visibility due to dust from ongoing road construction and low-lighting conditions on the roadway.
As per protocol, the officer involved in the crash was transported to Willis Knighton for routine procedural testing.
The SPD extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

LA POLICÍA DE SHREVEPORT INVESTIGA ACCIDENTE FATAL DE PEATÓN INVOLUCRANDO A UN OFICIAL
SHREVEPORT, La — El Departamento de Policía de Shreveport (SPD, por sus siglas en inglés) está investigando actualmente un accidente que involucró a un oficial y resultó en la lesión fatal de un peatón.
El incidente ocurrió el 20 de junio de 2024, aproximadamente a la 1:02 a.m.
Un oficial de patrulla del SPD conducía una unidad de patrulla en dirección este en el bloque 600 de East 70th Street. Al cruzar la intersección de Line Avenue, el oficial atropelló a un peatón que se encontraba en la carretera. El Departamento de Bomberos de Shreveport respondió rápidamente al lugar y transportó al peatón a un hospital cercano.
Desafortunadamente, el peatón sucumbió a sus heridas poco después de llegar al hospital.
La unidad de Investigaciones de Accidentes de Tránsito de la Policía de Shreveport fue enviada inmediatamente al lugar y comenzó una investigación exhaustiva. Los hallazgos preliminares indican que el peatón estaba en la carretera y vestido con ropa oscura en el momento del incidente.
