Shreveport, LA – The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) implemented enhanced security measures during this year’s Centaur Parade on Saturday, deploying hard barricades, garbage trucks, camera trailers, drones, and other advanced technology to ensure public safety. Officers maintained a strong presence along the parade route, addressing potential threats and enforcing local laws.

One of the primary concerns for law enforcement was underage drinking, a recurring issue at the event. SPD officers, working in coordination with Vice Agents, issued over 40 citations for underage alcohol consumption. Several of those cited were also found to be armed, prompting officers to take swift action to prevent potential violence.
Throughout the event, multiple arrests were made, including:

• Caleb Mitchell was arrested for negligent carrying of a handgun after reportedly attempting to brandish a firearm, which was later dropped on the ground.

• Kaden Lee was taken into custody following a reported fight. He resisted arrest and was found to have a handgun in his waistband. Lee was charged with simple battery, resisting an officer with force or violence, negligent carrying of a handgun, and interfering with a law enforcement investigation.

• Corey Barlow was cited for underage drinking and found in possession of marijuana and a stolen firearm. He now faces multiple charges.

• Blaine Nielsen was arrested for underage drinking and resisting officers upon contact. He was also in possession of marijuana and now faces charges including possession of alcohol by a person under 21, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana, and disturbing the peace by intoxication.

• Ashley Lowry was arrested for simple battery and public intoxication after officers intervened in a fight.
Authorities emphasized that the combination of alcohol and firearms continues to pose a significant risk at public events. However, police credited their proactive approach with preventing more serious incidents from occurring.
“The safety of our community remains our top priority,” the Shreveport Police Department stated. “We will continue to take a firm stance against illegal activities that threaten public safety and encourage responsible celebration at future events.”
SPD officials said they will review security efforts and make any necessary adjustments for upcoming parades to maintain a secure environment for all attendees.
