Shreveport, LA – A food delivery turned dangerous Friday evening, January 10, 2025, when a DoorDash driver was threatened with a gun after confronting a man who allegedly stole a food order.
At approximately 5:07 PM, Shreveport Police responded to a call reporting an assault and battery at 1906 North Market Street. The victim, who works as both a DoorDash driver and an armed security guard, had moved to a safer location at a nearby Popeyes while awaiting officers.

According to the complainant, the incident began when he delivered a Taco Bell order to apartment 103. A man wearing a blue jacket approached him outside the apartment, correctly identifying the customer’s name to claim the food. Shortly after, the actual customer contacted the driver, reporting that she had not received her order.
The driver returned to the apartment complex and confronted the man in the blue jacket, who became agitated and denied taking the food. During the confrontation, a second individual wearing black appeared and displayed a handgun, holding it at his side. According to the driver, the man in the blue jacket told the armed individual to “just shoot him.”
When officers arrived, they detained both individuals. The armed suspect, later identified as 48-year-old Elvie Haynes, was located exiting an apartment with his hands raised. Officers discovered Haynes was in possession of a stolen firearm and methamphetamine.

Investigators also confirmed Haynes is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.
Haynes was arrested and faces multiple charges, including:
• Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
• Possession of a Stolen Firearm
• Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substances (Methamphetamine)
• Illegal Carrying of Weapons
The investigation remains active, and Shreveport Police have reiterated their commitment to addressing armed threats and ensuring public safety.
