Shreveport, LA – A man was arrested following a shooting incident involving a three-year-old child on March 11, 2025, just after 7:30 PM. Officers responded to a residence in the 6700 block of Raspberry Lane after reports that the child had sustained a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, officers contacted Violent Crimes detectives, who initiated an investigation. The child was transported to a local hospital, where they underwent surgery. The child remains in critical condition but is expected to survive.
Preliminary findings suggest that the child gained access to an unsecured firearm inside the home and accidentally shot themselves while adults were present. The firearm’s owner, Cedarius Mims, initially fled the scene with the weapon.
On March 12, detectives successfully contacted Mims, who voluntarily returned to the authorities. Mims was arrested and charged with one count of Obstruction of Justice and one count of Second-Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile.
The investigation is ongoing.
