SHREVEPORT, La — A Shreveport mother has been arrested and charged with three counts of improper supervision after her 16-month-old child ingested marijuana.
The incident came to light on May 31, 2024 when detectives from the Shreveport Police Department’s Juvenile Services were called to a local hospital where the child was being treated.
The alarm was raised by the child’s godparents, who were contacted by the daycare after the child became ill and vomited what was suspected to be marijuana. Efforts by the daycare staff to reach the child’s mother were unsuccessful.
Detectives eventually located the mother, identified as 24-year-old Shaderrickka Williams, at her residence.

“Williams admitted that marijuana had been accidentally knocked off the kitchen table. She claimed that the marijuana did not belong to her but to another family member and acknowledged being aware of its presence in the house, where other household members were known to use it.”, said Shreveport Police Officials.
Further investigation revealed that two other children, aged three and two years, were also present at the time of the incident. Fortunately, all the children are expected to recover fully.
Williams has been taken into custody and charged with three counts of improper supervision of minors.
Due to Louisiana’s mugshot laws, no mugshot of Williams is available.
