SHREVEPORT, La. – A Shreveport man has been sentenced to more than 21 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Acting United States Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook announced that Quintell Dewayne Gladney, 45, was sentenced by United States District Judge S. Maurice Hicks, Jr. to 262 months (21 years and 10 months) in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
According to court records, the case stems from a May 26, 2020 traffic stop conducted by the Shreveport Police Department. Officers pulled over a vehicle driven by Gladney and observed what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband.
Upon learning that Gladney was a convicted felon, officers instructed him to exit the vehicle, but he refused. For officer safety, they removed him from the vehicle and conducted a pat-down search, discovering a loaded FN Herstal Model Five-Seven 5.7×28 pistol in his waistband.
Further investigation revealed that Gladney was in possession of over $3,000 in cash, along with small bags of cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana, which were packaged for distribution. Officers also recovered more than 41 rounds of 5.7×28 caliber ammunition from the vehicle.
Gladney pleaded guilty on July 31, 2023, admitting to illegally possessing the firearm.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Shreveport Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert F. Moody.
