SHREVEPORT, LA – A Shreveport man convicted of second-degree murder in December has been sentenced to life in prison, the state-mandated penalty.
Jacody Demetrius Wilson, 29, received the sentence on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from Caddo District Judge Chris Victory, who presided over his trial.

The conviction stems from a September 1, 2019, shooting at the A-1 Stop convenience store at Youree Drive and Stoner Avenue.
The victim, Sherman Rambo, was sitting in his parked vehicle while his uncle was inside the store. Another customer, Shaquille Bradford, arrived to purchase cigarettes.
Wilson pulled into the parking lot in a red Chevrolet Cruze with his co-defendant, Cortez Hines. Hines entered the store but immediately exited upon seeing Bradford, retrieved a firearm from Wilson’s vehicle, and began firing at Bradford as he left the store. Wilson also opened fire, shooting in the direction of Rambo’s vehicle before fleeing the scene, continuing to shoot as he drove away.
Rambo was struck once in the back and succumbed to his injuries. Bradford was unharmed and fled on foot. Investigators recovered 15 .40 caliber shell casings from the scene.
Crime Stoppers tips led detectives to identify Hines as a suspect, ultimately linking him to Wilson. Authorities traced the red Cruze to Wilson’s girlfriend and executed a search warrant at an address on Lancaster Drive, where they found the vehicle, two firearms used in the shooting, and both suspects. Wilson later admitted to firing a weapon and driving the Cruze during the shooting.
Hines was convicted of second-degree murder in April 2023. Wilson also faces a pending charge of attempted second-degree murder for allegedly attempting to shoot Bradford.
Assistant District Attorneys Kodie K. Smith and Victoria Washington prosecuted the case. Wilson was represented by defense attorney Leslie Kelly.
The case was filed under docket No. 395215.
