SHREVEPORT, La. – A Shreveport man convicted of domestic violence was sentenced to 29 years in prison on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in Caddo District Court.

Nakadrian Oshee Sanders, 24, was sentenced by District Judge Donald E. Hathaway Jr. after being found guilty of battering and strangling his live-in girlfriend to the point of unconsciousness on September 24, 2024.
Sanders, who has two prior domestic violence convictions—one in Bossier Parish in 2020 and another in Caddo Parish in 2021—received 25 years under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:35.3L(2). The law, which took effect in 2024, imposes a penalty of five to 50 years for strangulation resulting in serious bodily injury. According to court records, Sanders pressed his victim against a wall, placed both hands around her neck, and lifted her off her feet until she lost consciousness.

In addition to the 25-year sentence, Sanders was given four years at hard labor for domestic abuse battery. Judge Hathaway ordered the sentences to run consecutively, bringing the total to 29 years.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Britney A. Green and Ron Christopher Stamps of the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit. Sanders was represented by defense attorneys Evan McMichaels and Katherine Ferguson.
The case was filed under docket number 404285.
