SHREVEPORT, LA – A Shreveport man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to domestic violence-related charges in Caddo District Court last month.

Barkalski Clark, 42, was sentenced by Judge Donald E. Hathaway Jr. to five years at hard labor for aggravated assault of a dating partner and eight years at hard labor for battery of a dating partner with serious bodily injury. The sentences will run consecutively.
The charges stem from two separate incidents in 2023. On June 13, Clark physically attacked his long-time dating partner and brandished a knife during the assault. The victim had returned home to gather personal belongings when Clark, who had been hiding outside, confronted her and initiated the attack.

Earlier, on May 31, Clark assaulted the same woman, repeatedly striking her in the face with a closed fist and knocking her to the ground. The attack left the victim with a broken nose and extensive bruising.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Britney A. Green and Ron Christopher Stamps of the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit. Clark was represented by defense attorney Evan McMichaels.
The case was filed under docket No. 402876.
