Caddo Parish, La — Caddo Parish deputies have arrested a Shreveport man on multiple charges, including hit-and-run and drug offenses, Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr. announced.

The incident occurred on February 28, shortly after 8 p.m., when deputies responded to a crash at I-49 and North Market.
The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Jimmy Weldon Scott, fled the scene in a tan Toyota Camry, heading north on I-49.

Deputies located Scott’s vehicle near the Belcher Oil City Road offramp and initiated a traffic stop. Before stopping, Scott shattered the passenger-side window and discarded items from the vehicle.

After taking Scott into custody for hit-and-run, driving under suspension, and reckless operation, deputies searched the area where he had thrown the items.
They recovered more than 25 grams of suspected methamphetamine, leading to an additional charge of manufacturing and distribution of Schedule II narcotics.
Scott was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on all charges.
