SHREVEPORT, LA – A routine domestic violence call in Shreveport led to the shocking arrest of a man wanted for a 2023 homicide.

On March 24, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a violent domestic incident in the 300 block of Illinois Avenue.
Upon arrival, they found a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries after being struck multiple times with a rubber mallet and having a glass vase shattered over her head. She was rushed to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
The next day, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Damian Johnson, charging him with domestic abuse battery with intentional serious bodily injury with a weapon. Shreveport patrol officers quickly located and arrested Johnson, but his rap sheet didn’t end there.
During the arrest, officers discovered that Johnson had an outstanding fugitive warrant from Georgia—as well as a recent indictment for second-degree murder related to a 2023 homicide in Shreveport.

Johnson is currently in custody, facing multiple charges:
• Domestic abuse battery with intentional serious bodily injury with a weapon (Shreveport)

Authorities are still investigating the details surrounding the murder charge. The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office is expected to release further information soon.
