WEBSTER PARISH, La. – A Shreveport man has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than a million dollars’ worth of scrap metal from his employer in Webster Parish.
Detectives with the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office say 31-year-old Shayvon Haney, of the 1900 block of Downing Street in Shreveport, was taken into custody Tuesday on a warrant for felony theft.
According to investigators, Haney illegally hauled 21 unauthorized loads of scrap metal from an oilfield services company where he was employed. While Haney reportedly received just under $28,000 for the scrap, the estimated replacement cost of the stolen oilfield iron exceeds $1 million.
The case was investigated by Capt. Tommy Kemp Jr. and Detective Chase Walsworth, who tracked the thefts back to Haney.
Haney is currently being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on a $100,000 bond.
