SHREVEPORT, La. — At 10:44 AM on Friday, June 14, 2024, the Shreveport Police Department, Shreveport Fire Department, and City Marshal responded to an incident at the Walmart on Shreveport-Barksdale Highway in Shreveport, Louisiana, following reports of a shooting inside the store.

Upon arrival, officers found a man wandering the parking lot covered in blood. It was determined that the man had been stabbed in the arm.
Initial investigations by SPD revealed that a dispute in the grocery section of the store escalated into a physical altercation. A single shot was fired during the scuffle, and a sharp object was used.

Two anonymous witnesses provided their accounts of the incident:
“A black man approached me and asked if I was white or black. I told him I was Mexican. He walked off and then hit a white man. That’s when I heard a gunshot,” one witness recounted.
Another witness, who was waiting to check out, described a chaotic scene: “A man walked towards me, nearly running me over. He stopped another man, asking repeatedly, ‘Do you see what’s behind me?’ Then he punched the man in the head. They fell out of sight, and I alerted the cashier. Someone yelled that he had a gun, and I ran. A shot was fired as I was running out. The man who threw the punch came outside with his shirt covered in blood. He wandered the parking lot before police arrived and stopped him.”
Employees and customers evacuated the store and could be seen gathered under a shade tree outside.

One man was transported to a nearby hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound to his arm.
Shreveport Police have detained all involved individuals and recovered a gun from the scene. They advise the community to avoid the area while the scene is being processed.
