SHREVEPORT, LA – Two separate child welfare cases in Shreveport have led to arrests, shedding light on disturbing incidents of neglect and abuse.

Mother Arrested After 10-Year-Old Left Alone for Hours
Just before midnight on March 26, 2025, Shreveport Police responded to a home on the 3400 block of Clark Boulevard after a 10-year-old called 911, reporting that his mother had left at 5:00 PM and never returned.
Officers attempted to contact the mother, Nicole Frederick, but were unsuccessful. Detectives with the Juvenile Crimes Division discovered that not only had Frederick failed to return home, but the child was also not enrolled in school.

The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) was called to the scene, and Frederick was later located and arrested. She now faces one count of Neglect of Family.
Foster Mother Accused of Forcing Teen to Sleep on Dog Mat, Use Mop Bucket as Toilet
In a separate case, a 15-year-old runaway found at a local hospital on March 9, 2025, made horrific allegations of abuse against his foster mother, Lisa Pittman (B/F, DOB 9-15-71).
The teen claimed Pittman forced him to sleep on a dog mat or yoga mat, denied him access to the restroom, and made him urinate and defecate in a mop bucket outside. As a result, the hospital admitted the juvenile for his safety, and DCFS removed three additional foster children from Pittman’s home.

Following forensic interviews with four juveniles on March 26, 2025, investigators confirmed the abuse claims. Pittman was arrested on March 27, 2025, and charged with one count of Cruelty to a Juvenile.
Authorities Urge the Public to Report Suspected Child Abuse
The Shreveport Police Department emphasized its commitment to protecting children and urged the community to report suspected abuse or neglect immediately.
If you suspect a child is in danger, contact authorities or DCFS to help break the cycle of abuse.
