Shreveport, LA – A dramatic early morning apartment fire led to a heroic rescue Saturday, July 19, 2025, after Shreveport Fire Department crews responded to reports of a blaze at the Normandy Village Apartments on the 3700 block of Fairfield Avenue.

The first 911 call came in at 5:04 a.m. from a resident inside the complex. Within just four minutes, Engine 10 arrived to find heavy smoke and flames billowing from an upstairs apartment where a victim was seen calling for help.
Firefighters swiftly entered the burning unit, pulled the individual to safety, and immediately began life-saving medical efforts. The victim was transported by Medic 10 to a local hospital, where they remain in serious but stable condition.
Fire officials say it took 14 SFD units to bring the fire under control by 5:20 a.m. Fortunately, the fire was contained to a single unit, and crews ventilated the building to eliminate smoke and hazardous gases, protecting the safety of other residents.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation by Shreveport Fire Department’s Arson Investigators.
