SHREVEPORT, La — On Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 6:00 AM, the Shreveport Fire Department received a report of a house on fire in the 3200 block of Hollywood Avenue.
Firefighters from Station 14 arrived on scene within six minutes and reported heavy smoke coming from the sides and rear of a one-story residential structure.
It took the efforts of twenty-one (21) firefighters operating eight (8) units to bring the fire under control at 6:24 AM. No injuries to firefighters or occupants were reported.
However, one dog and one cat were found deceased within the house.
After a full assessment of the scene and a collection of evidence, fire investigators determined that the fire originated in the rear of the house and was intentionally set.
Subsequently, one juvenile occupant received a referral to the Family in Need of Services (FINS) program through the Caddo Parish Juvenile Court. The referral was in lieu of a court summons or arrest.
This will allow the juvenile and their family access to the professional services and help they need while preventing formal juvenile court involvement.
