Louisiana— Eyewitness accounts describe the drones as massive, some measuring up to five feet in diameter, and suggest a coordinated effort, with multiple drones hovering over critical infrastructure under the cover of darkness. West Feliciana Parish has become the center of a growing mystery as local authorities investigate a wave of unidentified drone sightings reported since Christmas Eve.
“This isn’t just a hobbyist with a new toy,” said Sheriff Brian Spillman. “We’re treating this as a criminal violation, as these drones are operating in areas where flights are strictly prohibited.”
The drones have been spotted flying as low as 200 feet and as high as 500 feet, disappearing without a trace after hovering for extended periods. Patrol deputies and residents alike have reported the sightings, sparking concern over the potential risks to public safety and critical infrastructure.
Sheriff Spillman has mobilized local, state, and federal resources to track down the operators.
Advanced technology has been deployed to monitor the activity, and Governor Jeff Landry has pledged top-level support, dedicating state resources to identify and neutralize any potential threats.
While there is no evidence of hostile intent, officials are urging the public to remain vigilant. Sheriff Spillman has asked anyone who witnesses unusual drone activity or has relevant information to contact the West Feliciana Dispatch Center at 225-784-3136.
As the mystery deepens, residents are left wondering: who’s behind the buzzing swarm in their skies—and what could they be after?
