Greenwood, LA— In the early hours of Sunday, January 12, 2025, a woman’s desperate 911 call set in motion a remarkable display of collaboration among first responders and dispatchers, ultimately leading to her rescue and the arrest of a suspect.
At 2:19 a.m., a distraught woman called 911, reporting she was being assaulted by a man while inside a moving vehicle. Midway through the call, the line fell silent, suggesting the phone may have been knocked from her hand. Undeterred, the dispatcher remained on the line, closely analyzing background noise for clues. With no initial description of the vehicle, the dispatcher relied on GPS pings and cell tower data to track its movement, determining it was traveling on I-220 before heading westbound on I-20 near Greenwood, Louisiana.
Greenwood Police Department (GPD) was alerted to be on the lookout for suspicious activity in the area of Greenwood Road and Howell Street. Working in tandem, Shreveport Police Department (SPD) and GPD quickly canvassed the area. At 2:36 a.m., officers identified a black F-150 near Howell Street, just 17 minutes after the initial call.

Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a severely injured woman, bleeding from apparent physical assault. The male suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Caddo Fire District #3 was dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the victim. The suspect remains in custody and is awaiting formal charges.
The rescue serves as a powerful reminder of the dedication and professionalism of first responders who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to ensure the safety of their community.
