SLIDELL, La. – A Slidell woman accused of living a lavish lifestyle while illegally receiving Medicaid benefits has been arrested by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation.
Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation took 35-year-old Candace Taylor, of Rousset Ridge in Slidell, into custody on Monday, July 28, 2025. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges related to Government Benefits Fraud under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:70.9.
According to the Louisiana Department of Justice, the arrest followed a complaint from the Louisiana Department of Health, which alleged that Taylor had underreported her income to fraudulently receive Medicaid benefits.
Investigators say that between 2020 and 2024, Taylor misrepresented her financial situation on official documents—going as far as to apply under the alias “Candace Sailor” and inconsistently reporting her dependent status. Despite claiming little to no income, arrest records show that her businesses generated more than $9.5 million during the same period.

Records also revealed that in 2020 alone, Taylor deposited over $480,000 into her personal accounts. She allegedly made luxury purchases including more than $45,000 in vehicle payments to Audi Finance, six-figure withdrawals to buy property, cosmetic surgeries, high-end jewelry, and luxury services. One transaction included a $100,000 wire to an exotic car dealer and a $13,000 debit card charge for a 2022 Lamborghini Urus.
Shockingly, just two months after buying the Lamborghini, Taylor reportedly contacted the state to renew her Medicaid benefits—claiming only $2,000 in monthly income and failing to disclose that she owned multiple businesses.
Investigators also documented several social media posts by Taylor flaunting her wealth, which helped agents build their case.
The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation continues to look into the matter.
