SHREVEPORT, La — A Shreveport man who succumbed to injuries after a physical altercation has been identified by the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office.
Billy Sanders, 43, of the 3900 block of Merwin Street, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, after sustaining head injuries during a fight at his residence two days earlier.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 27, when Sanders was reportedly struck in the head and fell to the ground. He was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, where he died at 1:31 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Shreveport police are investigating the death, which marks the city’s 41st homicide in 2024. Including unincorporated areas, it is the 44th homicide in Caddo Parish this year.
An autopsy has been ordered as part of the ongoing investigation.
