Shreveport, LA – A fight in downtown Shreveport has escalated into a homicide investigation after the victim succumbed to his injuries, authorities confirmed.
On January 26, 2025, at approximately 5:38 a.m., Shreveport Police Department (SPD) officers and Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) medics responded to a report of a fight on Commerce Street.
Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious male suffering from severe facial and head injuries. Witnesses stated that a male suspect struck the victim in the face, causing him to lose consciousness and fall backward, striking his head on the sidewalk. The suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived.
Emergency responders determined the victim had sustained life-threatening injuries and transported him to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport for treatment. An on-call SPD investigator was notified and responded to the hospital.
During the investigation, hospital staff informed authorities that a witness had come forward, identifying the suspect as Trevor Moses, 25.

Surveillance footage reviewed by SPD officers and the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) corroborated the witness account. Moses was arrested on February 6, 2025, and charged with Second Degree Battery.
However, on February 15, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m., the victim succumbed to his injuries, prompting law enforcement to reclassify the case as a homicide. Investigators determined that the altercation began on Spring Street before continuing onto Commerce Street.
The Shreveport Police Department is working closely with the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office to assess whether additional or upgraded charges will be filed against Moses.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities will provide updates as new information emerges.
