Shreveport, La — The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office has identified a Shreveport man who died after being struck by a big rig on Interstate 20 early Saturday morning, March 1, 2025.
Darryl Ray Ware II, 31, of Boykin Boulevard in the MLK neighborhood, and the former youngest Shreveport 2022 mayoral candidate, was struck around 6:15 a.m. after entering the eastbound lanes near mile marker 8. He had been standing at or near the shoulder before stepping into traffic. Ware was pronounced deceased at the scene at 6:18 a.m.
The cause of death was multiple blunt-force injuries, and he was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.

The Shreveport Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. An autopsy has been ordered.
