MINDEN, La — On Friday the 13th, a former Minden resident was arrested after a Webster Parish traffic stop led to the discovery of a significant amount of illegal drugs. Deputies found 15 baggies, each containing 1,000 Ecstasy pills, in the vehicle of Carltoniovontae R. Jackson, a 50-year-old man now residing in Mesquite, Texas.
Jackson is being held on charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (CDS). His bond has been set at $150,000, according to Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker.

The arrest is part of a larger investigation by the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office (WPSO) narcotics unit and the DEA Task Force. Sheriff Parker said the investigation had identified Jackson as a key player in trafficking drugs into the area. “We believe Jackson has been transporting a large amount of illegal narcotics to Webster Parish for distribution,” Parker explained, noting that Jackson was previously a native of Minden.
The traffic stop, which occurred just after noon in Dixie Inn, was initiated by WPSO Sgt. Josh McCormick. Lt. Chase Wimberly arrived for backup, and Jackson’s suspicious behavior during questioning raised further alarms. When Jackson refused consent to search the vehicle, Lt. Chris Hammontree of the Minden Police Department (MPD) was called in with his K9, Tigo. The dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs inside the car.
After being read his rights, Jackson admitted that drugs were in the vehicle. A search revealed 8.8 pounds of Ecstasy hidden beneath a garment on the backseat floorboard. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is $75,000.
Jackson’s arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in Webster Parish. Authorities are continuing their efforts to uncover further details related to the case.
