CADDO PARISH, La — District 1 Caddo Parish Commissioner Chris Kracman has stirred controversy with his recent statement: “Some folks are scared that the Alphabet Mafia are going to be out to get them… I am not.” This comment follows his decision not to support a Resolution in Recognition of “Pride Month” passed by the Caddo Commission last week.

Kracman elaborated on his stance, saying, “Equality is something I will always unequivocally support and bolster. Anything beyond equality is unreasonable. Arguably, socialistic. As I’m not a supporter of ‘equity.'”
The statement has elicited strong reactions from the community. Beverly Hamilton Dupree expressed her disapproval, stating, “I live in District 1 & you do not speak for what I believe! If you believe what you have spoke here, then you do not support ALL people’s civil rights. You support ALL people’s civil rights that align with your beliefs.”
Morgan Hester Shows also voiced opposition, saying, “There are definitely people living in District 1 who support equal protection and equal treatment for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and who don’t agree with their commissioner voting against this.”
Conversely, Jon Glover supported Kracman’s stance, commenting, “Listening to the comments shared by Commissioner Kracman, addressing the Resolution, celebrating June as Pride Month, I concur wholeheartedly, never support, in my estimation, to celebrate sin. Kudos to Commissioner Kracman for making sure no confusion about him not supporting sin, regardless. God Bless!”
