SHREVEPORT, La. – The final defendant in a deadly 2022 shooting that claimed the life of 13-year-old Landry Anglin has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Deanthony Johnson, 24, pleaded guilty as charged to aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon from a motor vehicle. Caddo District Judge Ramona Emanuel sentenced him to 10 years on each count, to be served concurrent.

The charges stem from events on May 1, 2022, when Johnson, driving a Dodge Charger, pursued a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Gavontay Johnson (no relation). A third vehicle, a Chrysler 300 driven by Tramaine Taylor, also joined the pursuit. As the chase moved through South Highlands, Kenmiccael Ray, a passenger in the Cavalier, fired more than 10 rounds from a Kel-Tech assault weapon at the Chrysler 300. One of those bullets struck and killed Anglin, who was outside a home in the 4500 block of Fairfield Avenue.
Although evidence showed Ray fired the fatal shots, Johnson later resumed the pursuit and opened fire on the Cavalier near Fairfield Avenue and Mitchell Street. No one was struck in that second shooting.
Ray was convicted of Anglin’s murder in June 2024 and sentenced to life in prison. In September 2024, Gavontay Johnson was sentenced to 20 years for obstruction of justice, while Taylor received a 10-year sentence for illegal use of a weapon from a motor vehicle.
Assistant District Attorney Christopher Bowman prosecuted the case, while Johnson was represented by defense attorney Alex Washington III.
The case was filed under docket No. 390571.
