Shreveport, La — At approximately 0354 hours on Sunday, February 23, 2025, the Shreveport Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 westbound, between Jewella Ave and Monkhouse Dr.
Upon arrival, officers located a gray 2023 Kia Forte pulled off the roadway and parked on the shoulder. The vehicle had sustained significant front-end and passenger-side damage. The driver, who was traveling westbound in the outside lane, reported striking an unknown object but was uncertain about what was hit.
As officers searched the surrounding area, they discovered a deceased male in the inside lane of westbound I-20. The individual had sustained severe injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
The driver was transported to SPD DWI offices, where they consented to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, as well as blood and breath samples. No signs of impairment were observed.
The crash scene was thoroughly documented with photographs, and fluorescent paint was used to mark the roadway. Preliminary investigation findings suggest that the pedestrian was attempting to cross southbound across westbound I-20 when he was struck by the Kia Forte in the inside lane.
The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office responded and took custody of the deceased. At this time, no identification was found on his person, and positive identification is pending fingerprint analysis.
This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder that interstate roadways are not safe places for pedestrians or bicycles.
