Caddo Parish, La – A Blanchard man is behind bars after a bizarre and dangerous series of events that began with a car crash and ended with an attempted break-in while injured and impaired.

On the morning of July 26, around 8:00 AM, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s patrol deputies responded to a reported burglary in the 6900 block of Carroll Circle near Blanchard. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 34-year-old Colin Hurst bleeding in the backyard of a residence.
Authorities say Hurst appeared highly intoxicated and possibly believed he was at his own home. Further investigation revealed that he had earlier crashed his vehicle on Glenn Road and fled the scene on foot. Deputies also confirmed Hurst was driving on a suspended license due to a previous DUI conviction.

Hurst was transported to Ochsner/LSU Health in Shreveport for treatment of injuries sustained while attempting to break into the residence. After medical clearance, he was taken to Caddo Correctional Center and booked on charges of hit and run, DWI (4th offense), and driving under suspension.
