Greenwood, La — On January 20, 2025, Sgt. Faris and Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop on a 2023 Dodge Challenger after observing the vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign near the TA Truck Stop.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Sgt. Faris detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the passenger compartment. When questioned, the driver admitted to discarding a lit marijuana cigarette out the window during the attempted stop.
Following a search of the vehicle, officers discovered 13.5 grams of marijuana, three baggies of cocaine, an electronic vape containing THC oil, a prescription pill bottle containing eight MDMA (Ecstasy) tablets, cigars intended for later marijuana use, a cigarette rolling machine, and a marijuana grinder.
The driver claimed to have forgotten the drugs were in the vehicle.
The driver was arrested and booked into the CCC for multiple charges, including the stop sign violation, possession of marijuana, possession of MDMA, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
