SHREVEPORT, La — The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has made a significant decision regarding its leadership, selecting Cedric Glover, a former state legislator and Shreveport mayor, to fill the position of executive director.
The board reached this decision during a special meeting held on Friday signaling a pivotal moment in the future of the city’s downtown revitalization efforts.
Glover’s appointment marks the end of a search that has been ongoing since the start of the year, following the resignation of longtime DDA director Liz Swaine.
Swaine, who had served in the role for many years, left behind a lasting legacy, and the DDA has spent the past several months working to find the right leader to carry the organization forward.
The board considered two final candidates during Friday’s meeting.
Glover, with his extensive background in public service, emerged as the top choice. His experience as Shreveport’s mayor and a state legislator brings a wealth of leadership, policy-making expertise, and deep understanding of the city’s needs to the role.
As the city continues to evolve and grow, Glover’s vision will play a crucial role in shaping the downtown district’s future.
The selection process was carried out with the assistance of a national search firm, reflecting the DDA’s commitment to finding the most qualified individual to fill this critical role.
With Glover’s experience and passion for Shreveport, many are optimistic that the DDA will continue its efforts to enhance the city’s downtown area, creating a vibrant and thriving hub for residents and businesses alike.
The next step involves contract negotiations with Glover to finalize his appointment.
If all goes as planned, his leadership could bring about a transformative new chapter for Shreveport’s downtown development.
