Shreveport, La — In response to a series of recent crashes, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has awarded a contract for surface treatment improvements aimed at increasing roadway safety.

According to Erin Buchanan, Public Information Officer for the DOTD, a contractor has been selected to apply a surface treatment to the pavement designed to improve friction and reduce the likelihood of accidents. Work on the project is expected to begin soon.
“This treatment is considered a supplemental safety measure,” Buchanan stated. “We strongly urge motorists to drive according to roadway and weather conditions. Slowing down during inclement weather and eliminating distractions are critical steps drivers can take to help reduce the risk of crashes.”

The DOTD’s proactive approach aims to enhance driver safety while also emphasizing the importance of responsible driving behavior.
Work is planned to begin soon!!
