SHREVEPORT, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a project aimed at improving a section of LA 173 (Ford Street) near downtown Shreveport in Caddo Parish.

The first phase of the project, managed by the City of Shreveport, involves relocating a water main currently located beneath Ford Street. Wicker Construction, the contractor hired by the city, will begin work on Monday, August 12, 2024.
This phase is intended to prevent future utility-related issues from affecting the roadway’s integrity.
Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Ford Street between Pine Street and Hartman Street during the relocation process. The contract allows for 300 calendar days to complete this phase.
Following the utility relocation, DOTD plans to repair Ford Street with a mill and asphalt overlay.
This portion of the project is currently in development and is expected to go to bid in the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
Additional details will be provided as the project progresses.
