SHREVEPORT, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a $3.8 million project to repair and improve a section of LA 1 (Youree Drive) in Shreveport, Caddo Parish.

The project is funded through an additional $7.5 million allocated to each DOTD region by the state legislature for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
The project will cover approximately three miles of Youree Drive, from Stoner Avenue to Southfield Road, a heavily traveled corridor that serves both residential and commercial areas.
The planned improvements include full-depth patching, milling, and an asphalt overlay to enhance the roadway’s durability and safety.
Work is set to begin on Monday, February 3, 2025, starting at the south end near Southfield Road and progressing northward.
The initial phase will focus on full-depth patching, which involves repairing damaged sections of the roadway down to the base before new asphalt is applied. This will be followed by milling, where old asphalt layers are removed, and then resurfacing with new pavement.
Intermittent lane closures will be necessary throughout the project, though DOTD aims to minimize disruptions, particularly during high-traffic periods such as school drop-off and pick-up times.
Notifications regarding major traffic impacts, including work at intersections, will be provided through the MyDOTD system.
Weather and other factors may affect the construction schedule, but the project is expected to be completed by late June 2025.
