NATCHITOCHES, La — Today, Friday, June 21, 2024 at around 12:00pm, NPSO Deputy Tim Key was serving civil process papers in the area of Ragan Street near Natchitoches City Hall when he observed two raccoons near a tree.

One of the raccoons head was lodged in a jar preventing it from eating or drinking water.
Most of us know that the raccoon would have become aggressive if Deputy Key attempted to catch it.
Deputy Key contacted the City of Natchitoches Animal Control Office for assistance. Officer Jonathan Meziere responded to assist.

Shortly after he arrived, he was able to briefly capture the animal and freed it’s head from the jar. The animal was released back into the wild.
