Shreveport, LA — A major leadership change has officially taken place at the Shreveport Police Department as longtime Deputy Chief Antwoine White retired on July 15, 2025, capping off a distinguished 25-year career in public service.

Deputy Chief White joined SPD in February 2000 and rose steadily through the ranks. His career highlights include assignments as a Patrol Officer, Mounted Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer at Captain Shreve High School, Juvenile Investigator, and later, Investigative Supervisor of the Sex Crimes Unit. In November 2019, White was appointed Deputy Chief, becoming the department’s second-in-command under Chief Wayne Smith. His contributions have been widely acknowledged for their impact on operations, leadership development, and community safety.
The Shreveport City Council formally recognize White’s retirement during its July 23rd meeting, celebrating his legacy of service and leadership in the department.
But White’s retirement didn’t last long.
Just six days later, on Monday, July 21, Duncanville Independent School District (ISD) in Texas announced via social media that Antwoine White has been named the district’s new Deputy Chief of Police.
“Duncanville ISD is pleased to introduce Antwoine White as the Deputy Chief of Police,” the district stated. “Mr. White brings 26 years of law enforcement experience, including extensive leadership in police operations, investigations, and public safety management.”
White’s educational and professional credentials include an Executive Master’s in Criminal Justice from Southern University, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Wiley College, advanced leadership training from FBI-LEEDA, and participation in the Harvard Public Safety Summit. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve.
His swift transition to Duncanville ISD comes as no surprise to those familiar with recent district leadership changes. Former Caddo Parish School Board Superintendent Dr. T. Lamar Goree assumed leadership of Duncanville ISD in June 2024.
On June 3, 2025, the district celebrated Goree’s one-year anniversary, highlighting his impact and continued dedication to educational excellence.
As of now, Shreveport PD has not released any information on who will be named to fill the vacant Deputy Chief position.
