SHREVEPORT, LA – The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office has rolled out a modernized crime reporting system that’s already transforming how law enforcement and the public view criminal activity across the parish.
Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr. announced the implementation of a new, more accurate reporting method aligned with national standards and powered by the Louisiana Incident-Based Reporting System.

The upgrade ensures a clearer picture of crime trends, better transparency, and more informed decision-making within the department.
“The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office understands the importance of utilizing law enforcement tools that evolve to meet modern standards of accountability and transparency,” said Sheriff Whitehorn. “By adopting smarter technology and data-driven practices, we can better serve our communities and build stronger public trust.”
The improved system allows for detailed and consistent analysis of crime reports—capturing incidents previously underreported or inaccurately logged. One such example includes a case from April 19, 2024, near Attaway Hill Lane and Linda Lane, which initially logged a double homicide as a single fatality.

Enhanced police presence and smarter crime-tracking technology have already shown dramatic results. From January to March 2024, Caddo Parish saw a 72% drop in burglaries and a 70% decrease in vehicle break-ins compared to the same period in 2023.
Key efforts behind this success include a targeted operation in South Shreveport and increased deputy presence in parish high schools—both contributing to a spike in calls for service but a drop in actual criminal activity.
Additionally, response times remain faster than the national average, reinforcing CPSO’s commitment to proactive community policing.

To further public access and awareness, the sheriff’s office is developing an online crime map dashboard. Residents will soon be able to track crimes in their neighborhoods and across Caddo Parish in real time.
