Shreveport, La — Elana Franks, a 17-year-old student and athlete at Calvary Baptist Academy, who was critically injured in a car accident on Fern Avenue on January 7, will not recover from her injuries, her family confirmed on January 8, 2025.
Despite their grief, the Franks family is ensuring her legacy lives on through the gift of organ donation.

Tonight, an Honor Walk will be held at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport, where Elana’s organs will be prepared for donation.
The Honor Walk is open to friends and family ONLY, with participants encouraged to line the hallway as Elana is transported from her ICU room.
“We invite all family and friends, who want to participate to join us in this meaningful moment of remembrance,” said a family spokesperson.
Following the walk, an honorary flag-raising ceremony will take place at the hospital to commemorate Elana’s selfless act of organ donation.
The Franks family hopes for a strong turnout to honor Elana’s memory and the lives she will touch through her final gift.
