California Man Arrested by Arkansas State Police with Over 100 Pounds of High-Grade Marijuana on I-40
Blackwell, Ark. — A routine traffic stop on Interstate 40 led to a significant drug bust on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. At approximately 4:40 p.m., Arkansas State Police (ASP) pulled over a rented black 2023 Chevrolet Malibu traveling eastbound at the 104-mile marker in Conway County for a traffic violation.

During the stop, troopers conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered a substantial haul of illegal substances. In the trunk, they found multiple large trash bags filled with vacuum-sealed bundles of high-grade marijuana, with a total weight of 105 pounds.
The driver, identified as 44-year-old David Willis from Lower Lake, California, was promptly arrested and taken to the Conway County Detention Center. Willis now faces serious charges, including felony Possession with Intent to Deliver and felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

According to investigators, Willis admitted that he was en route from California to Knoxville, Tennessee, when he was stopped by the ASP. The case highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in curbing the transportation of illegal drugs across state lines.
