Caddo Parish, LA — Caddo Parish Commissioner John-Paul Young was bitten by a dog while walking his own dogs in Highland Park earlier today.
According to Young, the incident occurred when a white pit bull, wearing a pink harness and leash, ran loose and attacked his dogs. The dog’s owner, a young woman accompanied by a man, was reportedly several yards away at the time.
In an attempt to restrain the pit bull, Young sustained a bite to his hand. The man eventually retrieved the dog, and Young, who was bleeding from the bite, informed him of the injury.
Young stated that the woman quickly walked away with the dog toward a residence in the 400 block of Herndon Avenue.
Animal control officers responded to the scene and are attempting to locate the pit bull involved in the incident.
Young emphasized that while not all pit bulls are dangerous, dogs that pose a threat should not be allowed in Caddo Parish.
Authorities are seeking assistance in identifying the dog’s owner. If you have any information please contact the Shreveport Police Department at (318)673-7300 #3.
