Shreveport, LA – In a high-stakes pursuit, the Shreveport Police Department’s K-9 Diesel played a key role in apprehending a violent fugitive on the run. On October 15, 2024, around 1:00 PM, U.S. Marshals enlisted the help of the Shreveport K-9 Unit to track down 23-year-old Michael Kingston, wanted for First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery with a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm by Minden Police Department.

Kingston, located near The Encore Apartments in the 9000 block of Kingston Road, made a desperate attempt to escape on foot when law enforcement arrived. As he tried to flee through a parking lot and climb onto a vehicle, K-9 Diesel was deployed and quickly engaged, forcing Kingston to drop a firearm in his possession.
The swift action by Diesel and his handler led to Kingston’s capture. He was immediately treated on scene by Shreveport Fire Department personnel before being transported to Ochsner LSU Health for further evaluation. Investigators later discovered Kingston had additional warrants, including for Forgery and multiple traffic violations.
Kingston now faces a growing list of charges, including Resisting an Officer, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Domestic Abuser. Authorities commended K-9 Diesel for his bravery in safely ending the dangerous pursuit.
