BOSSIER CITY, La — Starting Thursday, August 1, 2024, the Housing Authority of Bossier City (HABC) will open its doors—virtually—for new public housing applications.
The application period will run until Thursday, August 15, 2024, with a specific focus on one-bedroom units.
As part of its effort to streamline the application process and ensure equal access, the HABC will only accept online applications through its official website, https://thehabc.org. Unfortunately, paper applications will not be available this time around.
This initiative is open to all eligible families who are encouraged to apply and secure their spot on the waiting list. HABC emphasizes that the order of applications will be determined by the date and time the application is submitted and confirmed electronically. Therefore, applicants should prepare all necessary information in advance to expedite the process.
To complete the application, applicants will need a valid email address, the names, social security numbers, and birth dates of all household members, a current mailing address, and details of the total household income. It is crucial for applicants to keep a pen and paper handy to note down the confirmation number provided upon submission.
For individuals with disabilities requiring assistance, the HABC offers help over the phone. Applicants can call 318.698.3636 or 319.698.3632 for support. If telephone assistance is not sufficient, in-person appointments can be scheduled on Wednesdays between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., or 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Applicants are also responsible for keeping their mailing addresses up to date through the Applicant Portal, accessible only to those who have completed an application. The HABC emphasizes that it is not responsible for any undeliverable mail, so applicants should ensure their contact information remains current.
This move marks an important opportunity for families in Bossier City seeking affordable housing options. With limited time and availability, prospective tenants are encouraged to apply promptly to secure a place on the waiting list.
