SHREVEPORT, La — A Bossier City man, Roderick Carnell Jeter, has been found guilty of home invasion after breaking into a woman’s apartment despite a protective order issued against him. The verdict came on Thursday, September 12, 2024, after a jury deliberated for just one hour in Caddo District Court.
Jeter was convicted by a unanimous decision from a jury of seven women and five men, presided over by District Judge Donald E. Hathaway Jr. The case centered on an incident from April 10, 2023, when Jeter forced his way into the Pecan Street apartment of his victim. Ignoring the protective order in place, Jeter kicked down the door and physically assaulted the woman, who immediately called 911.

When law enforcement arrived, they found Jeter still at the scene, suspiciously pretending to repair the damage he had caused to the door. The apartment complex manager also testified, confirming the visible injuries sustained by the victim during the attack.
The jury heard from four witnesses during the trial, ultimately finding Jeter guilty of both home invasion and violating the protective order. For the home invasion charge, Jeter now faces a minimum of one year and up to 30 years in prison with hard labor. Additionally, the violation of the protective order could see him serving up to six months in the parish jail. His sentencing is scheduled for October, though an exact date has not yet been set.
Assistant District Attorneys Glenn Cortella and Jason Waltman led the prosecution, while Jeter’s defense team included attorneys Katie Ferguson and Madison Crusan. The case was listed under docket No. 394802.
