Shreveport, La – On Sunday, September 22, 2024, at approximately 4:27 p.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a welfare call at the Royal Inn, located at 1906 North Market Street.
Upon arrival, they discovered a female victim suffering from a severe, life-threatening injury—a deep laceration to her throat.
Emergency medical personnel quickly arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Ochsner Health, where she remains in critical condition.
During the initial investigation, officers encountered a male suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Joshua Anzalone. Eyewitnesses on the scene alleged that Anzalone attacked the woman, strangling her and then slashing her throat during a heated altercation. Anzalone was immediately taken into custody at the scene.

The Shreveport Police Department’s investigative unit was notified, and after gathering further evidence, Anzalone was officially charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail, where he awaits legal proceedings.
The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition as the investigation continues.
